Dr. Irene Piryatinsky

Dr. Irene Piryatinsky is a board-certified and licensed clinical neuropsychologist with a career spanning research, clinical care, teaching, and community involvement. In 2023, she was honored with the Edith Kaplan Award from the Massachusetts Neuropsychology Society for her outstanding contributions to the field.
Education and Training
Graduated from an American Psychological Association (APA) approved clinical psychology Ph.D. program
Completed an APA-approved internship at the Bedford VA.
Undertook a two-year clinical neuropsychology fellowship at Brown University.
Research & Clinical Specialties
Investigated the role of normal pressure hydrocephalus on cognitive functioning at Butler Hospital in Providence.
Served as a pediatric neuropsychologist at the Brown University Baby Imaging Lab. Here, she contributed to pioneering MRI techniques to study pediatric brain structure and its implications for psychiatric disorders.
Demonstrated expertise in neuropsychological evaluations, especially for children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, and chronic medical conditions.
Primary clinical interests include geriatric neuropsychology, neurodegenerative disorders, movement disorders, pre/postsurgical evaluations for deep brain stimulation candidates, and normal pressure hydrocephalus.

Actively collaborates with the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Movement Disorder Program, offering support to patients with movement disorders during their pre-surgical and post-surgical phases.
Member of the St. Elizabeth Tumor Board, aiding in neuropsychological evaluations of adults diagnosed with brain malignancies.
Community Involvement & Outreach
Committee member at 110 Fitness Center, an institution dedicated to wellness for individuals with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders.
Lecturer for both the medical and psychiatric community regarding neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, as well as neurocognitive functioning.
Has actively contributed to the Parkinson's disease support group by offering lectures and informational sessions.
Non-voting member of the New England Obesity Society since 2023.
